Dallas Police are searching for a suspect who shot five people at a 7-Eleven Friday night.
Officers responded to the shooting call that occurred just after 9 p.m., police said.
The shooting happened near the intersection of John West Road and La Prada Drive.
Officers found five minors wounded from the shooting when they arrived on the scene. The victims were 12, 13, 14, 16, and 17 years old, according to police.
All five of the victims were taken to nearby hospitals, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The shooter was in a vehicle but fled the scene before police arrived, according to investigators.
Treshun Bell lives behind the 7-Eleven and spoke to local outlet Fox 4 News about the incident.
“Looked out the window and saw kids running and one fall to the ground,” she recalled. “Then they went to the side of the 7-Eleven, where they got help at. So, it’s crazy.”
Community leader and former gang member Marcus Estell voiced his concern to Dallas’ WFAA about the violence he sees.
“Where are the parents? 9:50 at night. You’ve got 12, and 13, and 14-year-olds out here getting shot. Where are the parents of these children?” Estell asked.
Estell, 48, grew up in Pleasant Grove, where he was in a Bloods gang called Teenage Mob. He is now a pillar in the Dallas community, mentoring and advocating for young men and women headed down the same path he once took.
He has his own program called “Pushin’ Forward.” The non-profit organization aims to help those in need embrace a brighter future by building community relationships.
Information on the suspect in the 7-Eleven shooting has not been released, and police have not provided a description.
The investigation is ongoing.
