The Dallas Comic Show was held at the Music City Mall in Lewisville, Texas, and provided a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
The Dallas Comic Show has become one of the premiere pop culture events in the DFW area.
Local vendors from around the DFW area and vendors from as far as Austin attended the event.
Some of DFW’s favorite and well-known vendors, such as the Dusty Attic Toy Show, showcased the many items for sale.
The Raven’s Nest Shop from Frisco made its way to Lewisville to showcase its many products and socialize with fans.
“We are a small family business that specializes in importing international merchandise, especially for anime and animations from across the world,” said Stephen Stillman, owner of The Raven’s Nest Shop.
“I love doing these small shows because you get to meet cool dudes and other people as well who love the same interest I do and love the business that I do as well. It’s so cool to connect with those people that just share and love the same interest,” said Stillman.
Bandito Comics arrived at the Dallas Comic show and told The Dallas Express they love the nostalgia of events like this.
“I like the fans, the customers interacting with them, and you know we’re living a little bit of nostalgia,” said Josias Ocampo of Bandito Comics, speaking to The Dallas Express.
“Yeah, just the shared interest, and of course, there’s the people, they’re collectors, and there’s just people trying to go back to their youth, and it gets back what they’ve lost,” said Bandito Comics Paulette Jimenez.
“They share that with their kids, and that’s part of the legacy they leave for their kids after they’re gone,” said Jimenez.
The Dallas Comic show hosted notable guests such as Ariel Diaz, the cover artist for Vampirella, G.I. Joe, and many others.
Trina Nishimura is a well-known voice actor who brought Mikasa Ackerman to life on the popular anime show Attack on Titan and Jiro Kyoka on My Hero Academia.
True Lies, Sons of Anarchy, and McHale’s Navy actor Tom Arnold was also in attendance, signing autographs and taking pictures.
The Boondocks Saints star Sean Patrick Flannery ran late but still made it to sign and take photos with fans.
But most people that came to the Dallas Comic Show attended specifically for the man, the myth, the legend, and the beloved Texas icon, Chuck Norris.
“Oh, I’m loving it so far, it’s probably one of the easiest conventions I’ve been to so far,” said Todd Starling, who had recently got off work speaking to The Dallas Express.
When asked by The Dallas Express why he decided to attend the Dallas Comic Show, Starling replied, “Oh, I’m here to see Chuck Norris, Walker Texas Ranger!”
The Dallas Comic Show’s “weekend of cheer” runs through the weekend.
