A new option in online learning will soon be available to Texas families thanks to a partnership between StoneGate Christian Academy, the online faith-based program FaithPrep Texas, and the accredited K-12 curriculum firm Stride Learning Solutions.
The program offers lessons to increase biblical knowledge in addition to a core curriculum. FaithPrep Texas uses a unique program called “Servant Learner.”
Students and families interested in FaithPrep Texas are invited to become “part of the FaithPrep family,” the website states. It adds that the program “provides parents with strategies and techniques to help meet your student’s unique needs.”
Students will participate in faith groups and work with faith advocates online. Other online activities will include assemblies, guest lectures, and chapel.
StoneGate Principal Matt Maples shared that FaithPrep Texas provides an experience that Christian parents have been looking for.
“We hear what Christian parents are saying, and we want to provide your child a best-in-class online school experience by combining a dynamic curriculum with a faith-based approach,” Maples said in a press release.
Describing some of the program’s benefits, Maples claimed, “Our students can pursue academic excellence, develop Christian character, and discover their gifts, talents, and purpose to follow God’s calling in life.”
A study from Stride recently found that 43% of Christian parents felt public education was not reflective of their own values. The study also found that 66% were worried about the education their children were receiving.
Stride has worked with schools in all 50 states to meet personalized goals for online learning with hybrid learning options. More than two million students have received an education through Stride in the last two decades.
Perry Daniel, the senior director of academics and partnership for Stride, said the curriculum had succeeded with similar faith-based programs in other states.
“After the success of these academies in Florida and California, Stride is proud to partner with a faith-focused online school program for families in Texas,” Daniel shared in the press release.
“Our award-winning curriculum taught by missional teachers and the addition of Christian character-building components will build a brighter future for students and families across Texas who want to follow this path,” he added.
There will also be optional in-person meet-ups available through FaithPrep Texas. These meetings will be held at selected faith centers across the state for faith enrichment, program support, socialization, and community service.
The Stride study also showed 21% of Christian parents were very likely to choose a free online school for their children if given the option, according to Business Wire. A little more than that, at 23%, were somewhat likely.
FaithPrep Texas will start serving students in the spring of 2023.
