The Third Star of the Week award in the National Hockey League was given to Stars forward Jason Robertson for the week ending on December 4, the second time in the past two months that the 23-year-old has received this honor.

“He’s making it look easy, and it’s one of the hardest things there is to do, to score in this league, at this level,” Stars coach Pete DeBoer said, as reported by The Athletic.

Robertson tied for the league lead with five goals scored throughout three games (5-1-6), propelling the Stars (14-6-5, 33 points) to a 2-0-1 week. He also extended his point streak to 18 games dating back to October 27, just two shy of the record for the Stars franchise, according to the NHL.

On November 28, he scored one goal in a victory over the St. Louis Blues. On December 1, Robertson recorded his third career hat trick in a win over the Anaheim Ducks that resulted in a 5-0 victory, scoring the game-winning goal. Robertson finished the week with a goal in the shootout, which he contributed to when Dallas overcame a four-goal deficit in the third period of their game against the Minnesota Wild on December 4.

Robertson is currently leading the NHL with 23 goals scored in a total of 25 games played this season. He also shares second place in the number of game-winning goals scored with four other players. He ranks third in the number of points scored with 41.

Robertson played his first two NHL seasons in a defensive system where scoring goals was secondary, according to The Athletic. The team now plays a higher-tempo, offensive-minded game under DeBoer.

Connor McDavid, who plays center for the Edmonton Oilers, and Dylan Cozens, who plays center for the Buffalo Sabres, have been named the First and Second Stars of the Week, respectively, according to the NHL.

Robertson signed a four-year $31 million contract with the Stars in September, averaging $7.75 million per year, The Dallas Express previously reported.
