Grapevine is introducing a new outdoor skating rink which will be the largest in North Texas at 4,500 square feet.

This is the latest attraction added to Grapevine’s holiday offerings, giving further credence to its acclaim as the Christmas Capital of Texas.

The ice rink will open this Friday, November 18, and will close on January 8, 2023. It will also be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

It is located on Peace Plaza, right in front of the Grapevine Main Station and a stone’s throw from the 50-foot-tall Christmas tree that was recently put up, as reported by The Dallas Express.

Paul W. McCallum, executive director of the Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau, expressed excitement, saying, “Just when you thought the Christmas Capital of Texas couldn’t get any bigger, now visitors will be able to enjoy the largest outdoor ice rink in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex … We’re thrilled to add this magnificent new attraction, and we look forward to the fun holiday memories visitors will create at the Peace Plaza Ice Rink.”

Tickets for an hour of skating are $20 and can be purchased here. An option is also available for those wanting to reserve the rink for a private skate, which costs $500.

Other Christmas events to look forward to in Grapevine include the 34th annual Carol of Lights on November 21. The Carol of Lights will feature live performances and family-friendly activities on Historic Main Street and will end with a firework show at City Hall.

Additionally, there will be showings of Home Alone at the Palace Theatre and a performance of the Nutcracker by the North Central Ballet, both on November 26.

On December 1 there will be a Parade of Lights featuring over 100 lighted floats. A special appearance will be made by Santa Claus on the last float. The floats will travel on Grapevine’s Historic Main Street.

On December 3 and 17 Grapevine will host the Merry & Bright Drone Show at Harvest Hall & Hotel Vin at 8 p.m. The venue is in front of Peace Plaza where 160 drones will dance in the air.
