The largest Buc-ee’s family travel center in the country will soon be constructed in Luling, Texas, 50 miles south of Austin. This new facility will replace an older Buc-ee’s that has been in operation since 2003.

This location found on Interstate 10 was the first family travel center — a country store and gas station combined — ever built by the Texas chain.

The new 75,000-square-foot facility will have 120 fueling stations and 60 gas pumps, along with thousands of food and drink options, according to The Dallas Morning News. It will also employ over 200 employees.

For now, the nation’s largest Buc-ee’s is located in Tennessee and spans 74,000 feet.

Buc-ee’s has 43 locations spread across the United States, 34 of which are located in Texas.

Although known for having the “cleanest restrooms in America,” its appeal among travelers resides in its assortment of food options that go above and beyond what is commonly found in convenience stores around the country: BBQ sandwiches, freshly-roasted nuts, Dr. Pepper and Big Red Icee flavors, over a dozen varieties of fresh jerky, and Beaver Nuggets — a best-seller.

“Beaver and Don’s pioneering concept of the Buc-ee’s family travel center debuted in Luling 20 years ago,” Stan Beard, director of real estate for Buc-ee’s said in a news release, according to KSAT.

“As we continue to share the Buc-ee’s experience with the rest of the country, we are grateful for the opportunity to deepen our Lone Star roots and to keep our flagship, and the largest Buc-ee’s ever, in Luling,” he continued.

Groundbreaking for the new location will take place on November 16 and it is expected to open in 2023.

Buc-ee’s aims to expand to even more states across the U.S., with new locations planned in Missouri and Colorado.
