The healthcare organization MedStar has announced that it plans to treat some kids to a wholesome Halloween experience this year.
Aside from the services it regularly offers, Medstar has been organizing this program to give back to the Fort Worth community annually for the past nine years.
Come October 29, MedStar will be at doorsteps across Fort Worth to pick up children with medical conditions for a unique trick-or-treat tour in festively-decorated ambulance trucks. The group said it would provide every medical support needed for the kids to enjoy the Halloween treat safely.
MedStar explained, “The child will be picked up at home, brought to a specially selected neighborhood in a fully decorated MedStar ambulance. The child and their family will be escorted through a specially selected neighborhood on one of our stretchers, with full medical support, until their goody bag is full!”
Parents, guardians, relatives, or friends of kids who need medical support in order to go trick or treating this year can now submit their nominations to MedStar.
The healthcare provider’s initial release said nominations closed on October 18. But it has since canceled the deadline, explaining that nominations can keep coming up until the day of Halloween.
To qualify for the treat, kids must be between the ages of 5 and 15. Other guidelines require that the nominees currently live or temporarily reside in the MedStar service area.
Nominations are open to children in other healthcare facilities as well. MedStar requests that participating children and parents be willing to consent to a media release and share their experiences with media partners.
If you know of a child who would love a trick-or-treat spree, but needs medical support to do so, you can submit your nomination through Matt Zavadsky at [email protected] or by phone/text at 817-991-4487.
