This weekend Galleria Dallas is hosting a market that will benefit Bonton Farms, an organization that helps provide nutritional counseling, cooking classes, general health, and wellness guidance.

The event comes from a month-long partnership between the North Dallas shopping center and the agriculture-focused South Dallas nonprofit.

The benefit, which is called Alley Market, is a bi-annual event that celebrates small businesses. It takes place in the outdoor alley of Galleria Dallas, located next to The Blue Fish restaurant.

This year, the benefit will take place from October 21 through October 22. More than a dozen businesses will attend, and 10% of sales will benefit Bonton Farms.

Bonton Farms, which started as a garden in a small lot, currently has two fully functioning farms, a farmer’s market, a café, and a coffee house. They grow organic food and work toward bettering the Bonton community.

“The people [in Bonton] experienced higher rates of diabetes, stroke and cancer, and 48% of residents lived in poverty. Residents have been denied access to the seven human essentials that are necessary to survive and thrive — health and wellness, economic stability, safe and affordable housing, transportation, a sense of belonging, education and access to fair credit,” the non-profit’s website claimed.

Bonton Farms will be in attendance as a vendor and will sell seasonal produce and preserves.

Other vendors include CocoAndre, a Dallas chocolate company owned by the Mexican-American mother-daughter team Andrea and Cindy Pedraza, who were previously featured by The Dallas Express; Oventure, a fashion accessories company notably featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things; and The Planting Hand, owned and created by Karla Gallegos, who volunteered while working for HG Sply Co. restaurant in Lower Greenville and turned their rooftop garden into a thriving Dallas horticultural business.

Galleria Dallas has hired DJ K-Sprinkles, a teenage disc jockey, to play a mix of upbeat and popular songs in order to add vibrance and ambiance to the shopping center’s outdoor walkway.

Other vendors in attendance will include Cool Crayations, NHCO Botanical Body Care, Le Petit Bijou Boutique, Texifornia, Pancha by Hand, Candle Ghoul, and Minito & Co, among others.

The market takes place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day the event is held, and entry is free.
