The family of a 21-year-old woman who was shot to death on October 3 is saying a close friend did it.
Asia Womack was shot in the 4100 block of Hamilton Avenue in South Dallas, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
While police have not provided further information on the case as they said the investigation is ongoing, her family has said the killing was a result of how a basketball game turned out.
Andrea Womack, Asia’s mother, said she had just finished playing a pick-up basketball game at T.G. Terry Park close to her home when she was fatally shot by someone she played against.
Asia, who played at Madison High School, was very good at basketball, according to her mother. The shooting happened because she won against the guy, the family said.
The alleged shooter took his kids and brother home after the game and then returned to shoot Asia, according to the family. The 21-year-old was shot five times.
“This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man,” Andrea mused. “She’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way.”
While the bereaved have pointed out a possible suspect, the police have not announced one. They are, however, still working the case as Kristin Lowman with Dallas PD said that investigators have been “working it since Monday night trying to find justice for Miss Womack.”
