The Casa View neighborhood in east Dallas is now home to a new French pastry shop. Last Sunday marked the grand opening of Lubellas Patisserie at 10323 Ferguson Rd., which was attended by a bustling crowd of enthusiastic taste testers. Within five hours, the shop was completely sold out.

Pastry chef Maria Becerra and her husband, former sous-chef Ishmael Trejo Gonzalez, have worked for many years in the restaurant industry, baking custom cakes and desserts for local restaurants and special events, but this is their first storefront shop. They named the bakery after their two daughters, Luciana and Isabella, who cut the ribbon at the grand opening ceremony.

Lubellas’ decor features a “pretty sky-blue-and-white color scheme, with a row of small two-top tables along the wall and a pastry case greeting you as soon as you enter,” as Culture Map described it.

Among the offerings on Sunday were a variety of croissants, concha cookies, madeleines, macarons, cinnamon rolls, and muffins, as well as savory options in the form of croissant sandwiches and quiche.

Becerra bakes and decorates cakes to order, and the restaurant also serves cake by the slice. Her pastry skills were recognized this year when she was nominated for a CultureMap Tastemaker Award for Pastry Chef of the Year.

In addition to baking for Lubellas, Bacerra continues to make desserts for local restaurants and is currently catering all the lunches for a private school in the area.

The business has already raked in a five-star review on Yelp. Customer Patricia F. stated, “I love Lubellas Patisserie! The cakes have so much flavor, and you can add fillings if requested. Maria is always so nice, accommodating, and her work is phenomenal.”

Lubellas is open Monday – Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
