More than $62 million was raised for nonprofits during this year’s North Texas Giving Day on September 22. The annual online donation event, launched in 2009 by Communities Foundation of Texas, has brought in over $500 million for North Texas nonprofits over the past 14 years.

Some 94,000 donors from 41 countries and all 50 U.S. states contributed during this year’s event, benefitting 3,200 charitable organizations.

The North Texas Food Bank received the largest share of the donations, collecting $1,343,002, Fox 4 News reported.

“More than $62 million raised for North Texas nonprofits! North Texans, you have once again proved that the power of community is stronger when we come together,” the NTX Giving Day website stated.

“For the 14th year, we have rallied around the nonprofits in our community to uplift, support, volunteer, and donate so they may continue their vital work. From the NTX Giving Day team, thank you, truly,” the statement continued.

Dave Scullin, president and CEO of the Communities Foundation of Texas, told Fox 4 News that the event is meant to celebrate giving.

“We are thrilled with the millions of dollars that we raised for more than 3,200 nonprofits this year that will do a tremendous amount of good for our community,” Scullin said. “While everyone hopes to raise more money than the year before, our primary goal is to elevate and celebrate the spirit of giving in general.”

One of the participating nonprofits, Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange (AD EX), held a celebration last week to thank its donors, The Dallas Express reported. The organization was created to share architecture with North Texans and the Dallas community.

AD EX Managing Director Katie Hitt said the organization wants everyone to have access to design.

Hitt told The Dallas Express, “Our mission is to foster access to architecture and design for all. Everyone can understand and experience architecture.”

The City of Arlington announced that 128 Arlington-based charities received $2 million in donations through North Texas Giving Day this year.

To support North Texas Giving Day, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation held a free community concert last Thursday at Levitt Pavilion Arlington. A crowd of approximately 2,500 enjoyed performances by The Brad Thompson Band and Emmeline. Throughout the day, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation awarded grants to Arlington nonprofits totaling $115,000.

“North Texas Giving Day reminds us of the power of philanthropy,” said Carolyn Mentesana, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation’s executive director, in the press release.

More than 50 corporate and private sponsors supported 2022 North Texas Giving Day, including Amazon, Hunt Cares, The Morris Foundation, and the Ramesh and Kalpana Bhatia Family Foundation.
