Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr was arrested on a DWI charge in Collin County on Thursday.
Allen police arrested Carr at around 2:30 AM on Thursday morning. He was released at around 5:30 PM later in the day after posting a $1,500 bond, according to a spokesperson for the Collin County Sheriff’s Office.
No further details of the arrest have been released.
Carr, 36, spent 13 years in the NFL from 2008 to 2020 with the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens.
Kansas City selected Carr in the fifth round of the 2008 NFL draft out of Grand Valley State, and he spent the first four years of his career with the Chiefs.
Carr was among the most coveted free agents in 2012 when he signed a five-year, $50 million contract with the Cowboys. The cornerback would spend the next five seasons in Dallas, where he started every game but had only four interceptions.
Upon his contract expiring after the 2016 season, the Cowboys did not offer Carr a new one, and he signed a four-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
After playing three seasons in Baltimore, the Ravens declined the fourth year of Carr’s contract, and he became a free agent.
From when he was selected by the Chiefs in the 2008 NFL Draft to his final season for the Ravens in 2019, Carr started 192 consecutive games, second most only behind San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers during that span.
In 2020, Carr briefly returned to the Cowboys for a second stint, but after going back and forth between the practice squad and the active roster through the first month of the season, he was released.
Carr played in 195 games in his NFL career, making 192 starts. He registered 703 tackles, 21 interceptions, 138 passes defended, three sacks, and nine fumble recoveries, plus he scored two touchdowns on pick-sixes over his career.
For the Cowboys, Carr played six seasons, tallying seven interceptions and 80 starts.
Carr also started six playoff games, although he only experienced one playoff win during his career. While he has not officially retired from the NFL, Carr did not play last season, and he has gone unsigned this season.
