A University Park mansion is hitting the market at $43 million. The 23,688-square-foot home occupies 6915 Baltimore Drive in the Volk Estates Neighborhood and is the most expensive listing in North Texas.
The home was custom-made and designed by Richard Drummond Davis for Christy Thompson, daughter of the late oil giant J. Cleo Thompson. It has six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms, and three half-baths. The home lies on almost two acres of land; construction is still in the process of being completed.
Builder Stuart Mcllyar told the Dallas Business Journal about the home’s various features.
The exterior is coated in limestone from Bulgaria, which according to Mcllyar, is much less porous than limestone in Texas, and thus will last longer without staining or chipping.
The exterior also features a 360-degree wraparound balcony. The interior features black and white marble flooring, dual staircases, bamboo flooring, a domed ceiling, and a glass chandelier. Furthermore, the home has a 10-car garage, a sauna and spa, a library, a guest apartment, a theater, yoga and exercise rooms, and an octagonal reading room with seven walls of windows.
Realtor Diana Stewart said Christy Thompson “had a big part in the design.”
Stewart told WFAA that though there are many Californians moving to the Park City areas, she believes the buyer will be a Texan, as “the local people appreciate this area and the size of the lot and what you’re getting and the value of it for the location in the city.”
While this home may be the most expensive in the North Texas area, it falls short of the most expensive home listed in America, which is California. That 105,000-square-foot megamansion was known as “The One” and was listed at $295 million in January.
