It is never too early to give thanks, and thanks to one Dallas company, a local food bank will be able to secure Thanksgiving meals in time for the holiday.

Mitchell Ward, owner and CEO of MW Logistics, donated $50,000 to the Tarrant Area Food Bank to help buy turkeys for distribution in November.

This is not the first time Ward has donated money or contributed to helping charitable foundations. Michael Polydoroff, director of marketing and communications for MW Logistics, said it has become “an annual Thanksgiving tradition” for Mitchell Ward to support the Tarrant Area Food Bank at this time of year.

The food bank “ensures families struggling in today’s economy will also enjoy their family Thanksgiving with a holiday meal,” explained Polydoroff.

In November 2020, Ward was credited with helping organize one of the largest food giveaways in North Texas.

Soon after that event, Ward and his wife Pamela established the MW Cares Foundation in February 2021, realizing there was a greater need to support North Texas communities.

The goal of the MW Cares Foundation is to help individuals and families have the opportunity to reach their full potential, and in many cases, it starts with fighting hunger. To that end, the non-profit company has worked with the Tarrant Area Food Bank for two years to help provide families with Thanksgiving turkeys.

Ward noted that two years ago, turkeys were sold for $6; this year, prices have increased so much that turkeys can cost up to $22.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank expressed gratitude for Ward’s donation on its Facebook page. To them, he is “a true Hunger Hero!”
