El Gordo Seafood is opening a second location in Oak Cliff, bringing its tacos and seafood to the Bishop Arts District.
According to a quick Google search, the original El Gordo restaurant is located at 4841 Bernal Dr. in west Dallas. The restaurant’s “coming soon” sign has been put up at 451 West Davis at Woodlawn, according to The Advocate Oak Cliff. An advertisement for waitstaff has been posted on the establishment’s Instagram page.
The El Gordo Seafood location on Bernal hasn’t claimed its Yelp page, but Google’s rating for the restaurant was a 4.7 based on more than 70 reviews.
People who have eaten at El Gordo have said they love their crab legs, homemade tortillas, and fried shrimp. Anteon Jones says he was invited back for the football season by the staff for the whole El Gordo experience.
Boiled shrimp platters, ceviche, tacos, crawfish, micheladas, and cerveza, are all favorites on the menu at El Gordo. The major difference between the fare you can get at the surrounding restaurants around the Oak Cliff location is that seafood and tacos will be served side by side at El Gordo Seafood to indulge in the best of both worlds.
The new location also has its own Instagram page; while there are no posts, it already has 172 followers. The page notes there will be a full-service bar, fresh seafood, and ice-cold beer with plans to open in “fall 2022.”
Earlier this month, The Dallas Express reported Spiral Diner, a vegan restaurant in Oak Cliff, would be closing its doors after the owner, Amy McNutt, decided to move the location to Fort Worth.
Other Oak Cliff closings include The Foundry and Lone Star Donuts.
