A man recently died after falling 100 feet from a highway ramp in Fort Worth on Saturday night.

Just before 9:30 p.m. on August 27, two vehicles had a minor crash on the ramp connecting Highway 287 and I-30. While the original drivers were addressing the incident, a third vehicle struck either one of the vehicles or the driver, causing him to fall from the bridge.

The ramp is roughly 100 feet tall, or around eight stories high. Falls of that magnitude are generally considered “non-survivable,” with people suffering a virtually 100% mortality rate.

The identity of the man has yet to be released, but authorities explained that the victim died on impact.

Police detained the driver of the third vehicle, but it is unknown whether he will be charged with a crime.
