An investigation is underway into the cause of death of a body found in a burning Plano house Wednesday.

Emergency workers responded to a fire in the 1900 block of Gardengrove Court, close to West 15th Street and Custer Road, at about 1 p.m. on August 10.

A spokesman for Plano Fire-Rescue said the fire caused minor damage to the house. However, the fire crew found a body in the home while battling the blaze and called the police, according to Plano Fire-Rescue.

The identity of the victim was not released. However, the fire department has contacted the family.

Plano authorities said the death marks the first death due to fire this year. Investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
