The Dallas Police Department arrested a 56-year-old man for fatally beating another man whose body was found inside a northwest Dallas drainage ditch.
Reports in The Dallas Morning News read officers responded to the 3000 block of Clydedale Drive on the afternoon of July 22, where officers found Aloysius Jordan, 48, in a concrete ditch between two homes.
Officers found Jordan next to a shopping cart with a black blanket and a silver tarp, according to an arrest affidavit. A trail of blood led officers to a trailer parked about half a mile away in the 3000 block of West Northwest Highway. There, officers found a large pool of dried blood and two bloody sticks.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage from nearby buildings showing two men walking toward the trailer at about 9 p.m. on July 21. One of the men was holding a large stick while the other was pushing a bicycle, according to the affidavit.
The man pushing the bicycle told DPD on Saturday, August 6, that Isaias Reyes Hernandez, 56, had walked up to him and asked him to help him “fix” a problem he had with a man living in his trailer.
The witness told police that he saw Hernandez walk to a wall on the other side of the trailer with the stick in his hand before hearing Hernandez and the man arguing. Hernandez looked sweaty and nervous when he returned from confronting the other man, the witness added.
The affidavit revealed that the witness told detectives he saw Hernandez grab a shopping cart and put something covered in a tarp into it. The witness said the object in the cart was leaking and that Hernandez began pushing the cart towards the location where Jordan’s body was later found.
Dallas Police arrested Hernandez on a murder charge and booked him into the Dallas County Jail on Sunday, August 7. Jail records showed a magistrate had set his bond at $1,000,000. It is not known whether he had an attorney.
Dallas Police did not reveal what led to the alleged encounter between Hernandez and the victim.
