A last-minute back-to-school sports physicals and immunizations pop-up will be held on Saturday, August 13, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Church of the Incarnation Episcopal, located at 3966 McKinney Avenue, just north of Blackburn Street.
The free clinic is sponsored by the Church of the Incarnation, with immunizations provided by Texas Care Van. Other participants include the Dallas County Medical Society Alliance Foundation, The Dallas Police Central Neighborhood Patrol, Texas A&M College of Dentistry, and North Dallas Shared Ministries.
Attendees must bring physical immunization records because the clinic will not accept electronic copies. Meningitis, HPV, and whooping cough vaccines are among the free immunizations available. Immunizations will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those who qualify for free immunizations include children and students from six months to 18 years of age, those with Medicaid, and uninsured and underinsured children. Underinsured students are defined as children whose health coverage does not include vaccines.
Sports physicals are free to low-income middle and high school students participating in school-sponsored athletics and other school-sponsored programs requiring sports physicals.
Free meningitis vaccines will be offered to students who graduated and are gearing up to enter college. Free sports physicals will be provided by Dallas County Physicians, while free dental screenings will be provided by the Texas A&M College of Dentistry.
The pop-up is being held in anticipation of several North Texas districts holding their first day back at school next Monday, August 15.
