Kroger Delivery will be expanding thanks to a new fulfillment facility opening in Dallas. The opening was announced in a July 28 press release from the grocery retailer.
The Customer Fulfillment Center will use creative solutions and advanced robotics-based technology to enhance customer experiences across the entire Dallas Fort Worth region, according to the press release.
Kroger worked with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, the City of Dallas, school districts, and workforce solution offices to develop the facility and find talent.
Governor Greg Abbott shared in the press release that the new fulfillment center will be beneficial for North Texas.
“Kroger’s choice to establish a new Customer Fulfillment Center in Dallas is a testament to the state’s exceptional business-climate and highly skilled workforce,” Abbott said. “This new center is great news for the people of North Texas, offering the local community greater access to fresh, nutritious foods, and bringing good-paying jobs and economic opportunities to hardworking Texans in the area. I look forward to working alongside the company as we continue to keep Texas the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
This facility will work in collaboration with other facilities in Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Austin. The fulfillment center spans 350,000 square feet of space, according to the press release, and it added over 500 jobs to the City of Dallas and nearby communities.
Each fulfillment center helps Kroger expand its delivery services across Texas.
Bill Bennett, Kroger’s vice president and head of e-commerce, stated delivery orders can be placed both through the Kroger app and website.
“Kroger’s fast-growing seamless ecosystem takes the promise of zero compromise to the next level, with Kroger Delivery bringing the freshest food and quality ingredients to your own doorstep — when you want it, how you want it. Customers can use Kroger.com or the Kroger app to check the weekly circular, select personalized digital coupons, search products by dietary preference and ultimately place their delivery order, saving time and money,” Bennett said in the company’s press release.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson said the new Kroger facility represents an investment in the city.
“The opening of Kroger’s new Customer Fulfillment Center is a major win for our city — and it represents a tremendous investment in southern Dallas,” Johnson shared in the press release. “This means hundreds of jobs, it means more economic development, and it means greater access to fresh groceries for all of our residents, including those in our historically underserved and overlooked communities. Together, we are building a more vibrant and more equitable city.”
North Texas shoppers can also use a new annual membership called Boost by Kroger. It has multiple perks for customers ordering delivery, according to the press release.
Another grocer, H-E-B, is also making recent expansions across the state. The stores are more popular in Central and South Texas, WFAA reported, but recent developments are bringing more locations to North Texas.
Current stores can be found in Ennis, Hudson Oaks, Granbury, and Burleson. Future locations will be opening in the cities of Rockwall, Allen, McKinney, Plano, Frisco, and Prosper.
