Former TCU and current Houston Texans running back Darius Anderson was arrested Friday in Houston and charged with burglary with intent to commit assault.

Initially, Anderson, 24, was thought to have been charged with burglary with intent to rape, but Houston police later released an update that the initial charge was incorrect due to a “coding error.”

Anderson has since been released from custody on bond. He was initially scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday, but the hearing was rescheduled to September.

The Texans issued an official statement on the matter, reading:

“We are aware of the report involving Darius Anderson. We are gathering information and have no further comment at this time.”

Anderson allegedly forced his way into a woman’s home and chased her into a bathroom, according to a report from the Houston Chronicle.

The woman claimed she grabbed a gun off a coffee table while Anderson was chasing her but never pointed or shot the weapon at Anderson, per the report.

Anderson broke the lock to the bathroom door and threatened to assault the woman, according to her allegations, but left shortly after she called 911.

She told police that Anderson had been staying with her every other evening for the last month but that the couple “broke up” more than a month ago.

Anderson is a native of Richmond, and in his four-year career at TCU, he ran for more than 2,400 yards and averaged 5.6 yards per attempt with 18 touchdowns.

He made the highlight reels with a 93-yard touchdown run against No.4 Ohio State on September 15, 2018.

Anderson was an undrafted free agent signing of the Dallas Cowboys in 2020 before being released during final roster cut-downs in early September of that same year.

He later signed with the Indianapolis Colts and spent one year with the team before being released in August 2021. The running back then joined the Texans as a practice squad signing in December 2021 before agreeing to a futures contract with Houston in January.

Anderson has yet to appear in an NFL game to this point in his career.
