On Tuesday, a Texas repairman hired to work at a residence in southeast Houston discovered human remains inside a backyard barbecue pit and alerted the police, according to investigators.

Around 3 p.m. on July 12, police arrived at the 5200 block of Peach Creek Drive with a search warrant and corroborated that a body was inside a large BBQ grill.

Houston police reported that a complete skeleton was found in the grill, but because the remains were old, they could not determine if it was a male or female.

“It’s a full skeleton with a skull,” said Sgt. William Dunn. “I don’t know if any bones are missing, but it appears to be a full skeleton.”

Police launched an investigation and are awaiting the body’s medical examination findings. Homicide detectives are currently working on the case. No charges have been filed in relation to the incident.

The investigators questioned the occupants of the home. They said that everybody was present.
