Chicago Bears wide receiver David Moore, 27, was arrested last Sunday in Gainesville, Texas, on drug and weapon charges, according to an NFL news release.

The Gainesville Police Department said its officers responded to a call of a possibly intoxicated person in a vehicle at a Taco Bell drive-thru at about 11:18 p.m on July 3. Responding officers found Moore asleep in the driver’s seat of a 2018 Ford F-250.

Officers reportedly detected an odor of marijuana coming out of the vehicle. They searched the vehicle and allegedly found a package of THC edible candies and three pistols before the football player was arrested.

Jail records show that Moore was booked into the Cooke County Jail on July 4. He has since bonded out on a $5,000 bail.

“We are aware of an incident involving the arrest of Bears wide receiver David Moore,” the Bears said in a statement on July 7 confirming Moore’s arrest. “We are in the process of gathering more information. We will refrain from making any further comment at this time.”

Moore, a Gainesville native, was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Moore spent four seasons with the Hawks, recording 78 catches for 1,163 yards and 13 touchdowns. He later played for the Panthers, Raiders, Broncos, and Packers before signing a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears in April.

“It’s just a blessing,” Moore said after joining the Bears, according to the team’s website. “I’ve been at the house just hoping, waiting on a call, just an opportunity to get a chance to play football. The week was going great, and I had high hopes, and then after practice, they told me to wait around, that they were going to sign me.”

Moore is the third Bear to run into legal problems this offseason, according to TMZ. Byron Pringle, a receiver for the team, was jailed in April for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license, while linebacker Matt Adams was arrested by law enforcement in June for firearms possession.
