The students graduating from a Dallas elementary school recently celebrated the conclusion of the academic year in a big way.

St. Philip’s School and Community Center’s sixth-grade class got the experience of a lifetime on an unforgettable journey: a trip to the Grand Canyon.

For three decades, the institution has been sending organized trips of students to the Grand Canyon. However, due to the pandemic, they have not been able to go on their journey for the last two years.

The highlight of this year’s trip was the Bright Angel Trail, where 22 kids and seven chaperones traveled six miles into the canyon, led by the school’s headmaster, Terry Flowers.

After landing at Phoenix’s airport, the students took a chartered van to Williams, Arizona, where they boarded a train to take them to one of America’s greatest treasures, Grand Canyon National Park.

For many of the students, the trip was their first time leaving Texas, flying, or traveling on a train.

The school believes this annual trip was the perfect way to mark the students’ transition from elementary to middle school.
