North Richland Hills Fire Department reported an overnight fire Thursday at an apartment complex that displaced 17 people. There were no injuries reported.
Reports say firefighters found heavy flames coming through the roof of a building at the Davis Plaza Apartments on Irish Drive near Highway 183 and Davis Boulevard.
A phone call came into the North Richland Hills Dispatch at approximately 2:00 a.m. with reports of a blaze seen in an apartment in the 7800 block of Irish Drive.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they reported seeing a fire on the balcony and roof from the front and side of the apartment, according to CBS 11.
The command unit called for an aggressive approach to ending the one-alarm fire. It was announced under control at 2:40 a.m. and was extinguished by 2:55 a.m. Personnel remained at the site throughout the morning, watching for hot spots and acting accordingly.
Oncor made a response to the incident due to the building losing power.
The North Richland Hills Fire Rehab unit also helped keep the fire personnel hydrated as they fought the fire.
They also insisted on providing several rescued animals with oxygen alongside firefighters.
The Red Cross came to the scene to help care for the people displaced by the fire.
