Officials with Dallas Fire-Rescue are investigating whether a building fire that occurred early Tuesday morning in an East Dallas high-rise may have been set intentionally.
Firefighters responded to a call just before 5 a.m. on April 25 at the Uptown Tower, located at 4144 North Central Expressway in Dallas, and saw smoke on the first floor of the 12-story building.
The blaze took 20 minutes to extinguish, as most of the flames had been taken care of by the building’s sprinkler system.
Jason Evans, the spokesman for the Dallas Fire-Rescue, said investigators suspect someone tossed an incendiary device through a window and set fire to the first-floor leasing office.
Authorities stated that no one was inside the office at the time, and no one was injured in the building. One firefighter sustained a musculoskeletal injury while cleaning up after extinguishing the flames and was transported to a nearby hospital.
Officials say they are still searching for a suspect and a motive for the fire and ask anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
