The Fort Worth Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital opened a new nine-story facility, the Jane and John Justin Tower, on April 2. It is the first of its kind and the biggest project in Fort Worth Texas Health Hospital’s history.
The new additions will add nearly 400,000 square feet to the hospital, giving more surgery and patient care options. According to the press release, the Jane and John Justin Tower “includes 144 beds, 15 surgery suites, and new pre and post-operative suite services.”
The project ended after two years and cost $300 million. The Jane and John Justin Tower adds incredible benefits to the community, such as a 30% increase in surgery space and dedicated neurological and orthopedic surgery suites.
The bigger rooms allow newer robotic technology the space it needs to facilitate various life-saving procedures. The tower will also accommodate more extensive, later upgrades. The added space also means wait times will be shorter.
“Fort Worth and Tarrant County, along with the rest of North Texas, remain one of the fastest-growing areas of our country,” said Joseph DeLeon, president of Texas Health Hospital Fort Worth, in the press release. “Our service area includes 1.2 million people in four counties, and that’s expected to grow by another 100,000 over the next five years. The larger, more modern facilities allow us to treat this growing population with specialty services, including trauma, neuroscience, heart and vascular, and many others.”
Each room can be individualized to fit the care needed for different patients. The eighth floor houses 36 rooms fit for patient isolation. Texas Health Hospital focuses on ensuring patients feel comfortable — almost as though they are at home. The Jane and John Justin Tower features ample natural light, spaces for visitors, and peaceful art throughout.
“From the surgical suites to the patient floor design and layout, every detail of Justin Tower is tailored toward creating an environment that fosters healing for our patients,” Barclay Berdan, CEO of Texas Health Resources, said to Texas Health. “Our goal is to make a hospital stay as comfortable as being at home, so the patient can focus on healing and returning to good health.”
The Texas Health Hospital has also expanded residency programs to address the recent shortage of physicians in Fort Worth. The first participants of the new program are set to start in 2023.
