Ursuline soccer star Kylie Dobbs has signed on to take her show to the University of Missouri.
“So excited to be a Tiger for the next four,” Dobbs posted on Twitter.
Dobbs’ accomplishments at Ursuline will always live on in the school’s record books. As a senior, she netted 49 goals on the way to becoming the program’s all-time leading scorer with 103. Dobbs saved her best act for last, bagging four goals in the team’s 5-0 win over Houston St. Agnes in the TAPPS Division 1 state final, ushering in the school’s 28th state championship in girls’ soccer.
Dobbs said her decision to sign on with the Tigers was an easy one.
“I chose Mizzou because the education, combined with the athletic program, provides me opportunities to succeed as an athlete and as a person,” she added in another post to Twitter.
Missouri coach Bryan Blitz is counting down the days until he can have the high-scoring forward on campus and officially a part of the program.
“We are excited for Kylie to join such a strong 2021 incoming class,” he said in a press release. “Her best quality is her ability to play back to goal and her left foot. We can’t wait to have all eight of our incomers together.”
A two-time TAPPS Division 1 state champion at Ursuline, Dobbs said she plans to major in journalism at Missouri.
Even with all Ursuline’s rich history in the sport, Dobbs stands out among all the school’s star performers.
“For her to be the first player to score 100 goals really says something with all of the talent that’s come through the school,” said Ursuline head coach Darrin Hedges. “Our entire team took her getting to 100 as a personal goal. We knew we would succeed as Kylie succeeded.”
Dobbs’ season to remember earned her plenty of post-season attention, including TAPPS first-team all-state recognition and a nomination for United Soccer Coaches All-American status.
