The Fort Worth Police Department lost one of its bravest officers on March 10 following a hard-fought battle with cancer. Previous reports in The Dallas Express revealed that 6-year-old Rylan Pruitt, who had been diagnosed with a brain cancer called medulloblastoma, was sworn in as an honorary police officer on January 26.

Rylan Pruitt’s mother, Marisa Pruitt, revealed that doctors discovered he had a large brain tumor. The 6-year-old underwent thirty radiation sessions and four months of chemotherapy following the discovery. Sadly, a new spot was located on his spine after he concluded his chemotherapy.

The latest reports from The Fort Worth Star-Telegram confirmed Rylan Pruitt has now passed on after putting up the bravest fight anyone would ever see against cancer.

According to The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Rylan Pruitt, who preferred to be called “Officer Beans,” was known by family members and neighbors as a happy kid, even on some of the days he fought the hardest.

Rylan Pruitt loved McDonald’s chicken nuggets, pepperoni pizza, and Power Rangers. He also loved the police and firefighters and was a big fan of Spiderman.

Marisa told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that her son taught her that love is unconditional.

“He taught me what it means to live life to the fullest, wake up every day, be grateful that you have another day,” Marisa told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “Taught me to smile and be happy on the rainiest days. He taught me that you can’t control everything, and that … as his mom, as badly as I wanted to save him, I couldn’t. But what I can do is make his legacy known to more than just a couple thousand.”
