Woman Who Rescued Boy During Dog Attack Given ‘Life Saving Award’

A Parker County woman’s brave actions were celebrated with an award on February 28.

Lorena Parker received a “Life Saving Award” for rescuing a child as he was being attacked by a dog.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, in late January, 7-year-old Conner Landers was mauled by a dog. Police said the boy was attacked when he got off his school bus in the 1400 block of Lynock Lane in Azle.

Officials say that Parker, a neighbor who lived nearby, heard the commotion and rushed outside to help. She called 911 and then beat the animal off of Landers to get him to safety.

Even though Landers was critically injured in the attack, officials believe Parker’s intervention potentially saved the boy’s life.

Per CBS 11 News, the award was presented to Parker by Sheriff Russ Authier during a commissioner’s court meeting.
