The reward for helping to find Lina Sardar Khil, who disappeared from a playground in San Antonio, Texas, in December 2021, has increased to a total of $250,000.

The Islamic Center of San Antonio is offering $200,000 for information that helps with Khil’s safe return. CrimeStoppers is also offering a “guaranteed $50,000 reward” for information that results in the arrest or indictment of a suspect in the case.

On December 20, 2021, Khil, 3 years old at the time, went missing from a playground at the Villa Del Cabo apartment complex. Shortly after she disappeared, an Amber Alert was issued as her family believed she was in danger.

Khil is described as 4 feet tall with a weight of 55 pounds. Her family said she was wearing a red dress, black jacket, and black shoes, with her shoulder-length hair in a ponytail when she was last seen.

Lina’s family honored her 4th birthday on February 20 in her absence. A family member, Pamela Allen, said that while the family keeps hoping that their little girl is coming back home, it is also very important to celebrate her birthday while she’s away.

Before the birthday commemoration, a donation of $80,000 was made to the Islamic Center — upping the reward offered by the organization to its current total of $200,000.

Lina’s family arrived in the U.S. in 2019 as Afghan refugees. Her father said that the community’s support since his daughter went missing has kept him going.

The San Antonio Police Department issued a statement in January to assure Khil’s family and the community that its investigation into the girl’s whereabouts continues. Police urge anyone with information about Lina’s whereabouts or her disappearance to contact the department’s Missing Persons Unit at 210-207-7660. Information can also be directed to the Crime Stoppers of San Antonio at 210-224-STOP (7867).
