At least one student at Corsicana High School is in police custody after bringing a gun to the campus on February 17.
The school was briefly placed on lockdown at 11 a.m. following a report of the weapon in a backpack, according to a Corsicana ISD Twitter post.
Upon searching the bag, police did not find a gun inside.
School staff continued to talk with students and search for the firearm.
Around 1:11 p.m., the gun was located hidden in a classroom, the school district reported.
Corsicana ISD released a statement stating that those involved were escorted from the campus and the appropriate consequences would take place.
The number of students involved in the incident or details regarding the gun was not released.
The lockdown was lifted after students were processed by law enforcement and an investigation is ongoing.
Earlier this week, The Dallas Express reported that a 16-year-old brought a gun to Uplift Mighty Preparatory School in Fort Worth.
A teacher discovered the weapon, and the student was taken into custody by police at the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.
