Air France is finally coming back to DFW International Airport after dropping flights in March 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic.
They will be scheduling flights five times a week starting March 27 using their 777-200ER jets, which seat 280 people. The planes will depart DFW and arrive at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.
For Summer 2022, Air France plans to continue increasing the capacity on United States routes. According to a press release, this is part of an initiative that is already underway to resume flights in the United States.
Air France has already resumed flights for eleven other destinations including Houston. They are also resuming flights From JFK International to Paris Orly Airport on March 27. On May 4, they will start operating a season service between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Denver, Colorado for the second year in a row.
Following the exit of foreign carriers with the beginning of the pandemic, Air France is one of the last major international airlines to return to DFW International Airport. This was due to the restrictions that governments had set in place because of COVID-19.
DFW International Airport will host eighteen airlines that are able to fly internationally in March, which is an increase from the fourteen it hosted before the pandemic started. Airlines who fly international such as Turkish Airlines, which flies to Istanbul, and Frontier Airlines, which flies to Mexico, have just recently made their way to DFW International Airport.
Although Air France is opening more possibilities for international travel across the U.S., consumers will still have to adhere by both French and American COVID-19 guidelines.
The France Diplomacy website states that any person entering French territory that is age 12 and over must present a negative PCR or antigen test less than 24 or 48 hours old, depending on the country of origin. The same applies to adults regardless of vaccination status. Children 12 years of age and under are exempt.
As far as the United States goes, the CDC website states that all international travelers will need to get a COVID-19 viral test no more than one day before the date of travel back into the United States. Passengers must present a negative test result to the airline before boarding their flight.
