A man was arrested by Grand Prairie police in the 1800 block of Cherry Street on February 11 for losing a potentially deadly six-foot cobra in August 2021.
According to CBS 11 News, the cobra went missing on August 3, 2021, leaving residents of the Grand Prairie neighborhood in fear. While DFW Wildlife Control set traps to catch the snake, all efforts yielded no positive results.
Grand Prairie Police say 23-year-old Lawrence Matt violated Parks and Wildlife Code 43.853, which states that “a person may not intentionally, knowingly, recklessly, or with criminal negligence release or allow the release from captivity” of a dangerous snake.
The snake still has not been found as of February 13.
Matt, who was arrested without incident, is currently being held at the Grand Prairie Detention Center. His bond is set at $10,000.
