A shooting has left two people dead in a northwest Fort Worth neighborhood on February 9.
One of the victims was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 18-year-old Christian Armijo of Sansom Park. The other individual’s identity is undisclosed.
The medical examiner’s office has not yet released Armijo’s official cause of death.
Fort Worth Police initially received a call around 7 a.m. that a man had been shot in front of a school bus within in the 1900 block of Lawther Drive.
According to a police spokesperson, Jimmy Pollozani, “Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male victim with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers also found an additional shooting victim who was transported to an area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased.”
Officers suspect the shooting was a drug-related robbery.
It was later reported that a bus driver “saw the aftermath” but did not witness the shooting.
No children were injured.
Nicholas Garcia told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he and his mother, area residents, initially thought the gunshots were someone knocking on their front door. When they did not see anyone, they sought the source of the sound. The pair discovered two bodies a few houses away.
Garcia told the Star of his community: “It’s usually real quiet. You can hear gunshots around here, but it’s only because of the North Side over there, but nothing like this ever happened in this neighborhood.”
No arrests have been made. An investigation is underway.
