President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton his “Complete and Total Endorsement” for the Republican U.S. Senate nomination, injecting fresh momentum into the May 26 runoff against incumbent U.S. Sen. John Cornyn.
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, praising Paxton as a loyal “America First Patriot” while noting Cornyn’s delayed support during the 2024 campaign. The endorsement arrives with early voting underway and one week before Texas Republicans head to the polls.
Trump’s statement read, in part: “Ken Paxton has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next United States Senator from the Great State of Texas – KEN PAXTON WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” Truth Social.
The Dallas Express reported the breaking development as Trump’s long-awaited decision landed Tuesday afternoon. The runoff pits two prominent Texas Republicans against each other after neither cleared 50% in the March 3 primary.
Paxton’s Response
I am incredibly honored to have President Trump’s COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT.
No one has ever fought harder for the American people than President Trump, and I look forward to championing his America First agenda in the Senate!

Cornyn’s Response
I have worked closely with President Trump through both of his Presidential terms and voted with him more than 99% of the time. He has consistently called me a friend in this race. It is now time for Texas Republican voters to decide if they want a strong nominee to help our GOP…
