Texas A&M-Commerce has a new home in North Dallas. Its School of Education and Human Services and School of Business headquarters have moved to the nineteenth and twentieth floors of a high-rise building located at 8750 North Central Expressway, situated across the highway from the North Park Center.
The renovated 50,000 square-foot campus features several shared study spaces, a café, a fitness center, accessible parking, and easy access to public transportation. The facility will also house a full suite of student support services.
A grand opening was hosted on February 2 by A&M System Chancellor John Sharp, President Dr. Mark Rudin, and Vice Chairman Bill Mahomes of the A&M System’s Board of Regents.
“What we are celebrating today is that a great city and a great and well-established university are coming together, and I know that today marks the beginning of an amazing partnership that will grow and last for years to come,” said Mayor Eric Johnson.
Texas A&M Commerce does not offer student housing, allowing for an easier commute and less college debt. Students can pursue degrees in agriculture, design, education, and business. The new North Dallas campus will also offer classes to students at Dallas College who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher.
“There is only one word to describe our new home in Dallas—impressive!” Dr. Rudin said. “Our state-of-the-art classrooms, labs, and meeting areas will serve our students, faculty, and staff well, bringing our long tradition of providing a high-quality, affordable education to students right here in Dallas. We look forward to showing DFW why people have sought higher education from A&M-Commerce since 1889.”
Texas A&M Commerce was established in 1889 and is the fifth oldest state university. Remaining faithful to founder William Leonidas Mayo’s creed of “ceaseless industry, fearless investigation, unfettered thought, and unselfish service to others,” Texas A&M Commerce offers 144 areas of study and 120 clubs and organizations.
In a press release, Texas A&M Commerce says it has plans to “synergize with area industries in workforce development and reskilling.” Texas A&M Commerce Dallas joins locations in Frisco, McKinney, and Mesquite.
