Peniel Nnamdi, an 11-year-old sixth grade student at Terry Middle School in Mesquite ISD, has just become a published author.
Nnamdi launched her first book in November 2021. She titled the book, “How to Be Successful: A Simple Guide to Success For Children.”
According to CBS 11 News, the book is an interactive book that highlights lessons to help kids in their everyday lives. It features seven essential steps to help kids develop and succeed at a young age.
Per CBS 11 News, Peniel told Mesquite ISD that she was inspired by the values her family taught her. “I’ve been raised by a family that teaches me values, and I just want to follow them,” she said.
According to her book, Peniel is the first daughter of Reverend Samuel and Pastor Lisa Nnamdi.
Peniel was in third grade when she wrote a book for the first time. The book, which was never published, is a story about superheroes. Years after her first foray into authorship, the sixth grader decided to create something that would be of greater help to young children.
In a quest to inspire kids to be leaders in their community, Peniel plans to write more books.
According to CBS 11 News, Peniel’s favorite interests include sports, choir, and volunteering. Her book also mentioned that she is “passionate about music.”

Peniel’s accomplishment is one that made her school district proud. Mesquite ISD featured her in their “Made to Excel” series, a program that recognizes extraordinary students and staff across the city.
