Frisco will transform into a holiday wonderland this December with a packed calendar of festive events ranging from 5K runs to underwater Santa photos.
The North Texas city has announced its annual lineup of holiday activities designed to bring the community together during the winter season.
The festivities kick off on December 6 with the Frosty 5K at Simpson Plaza. The morning fun run, presented by Texas Health Hospital Frisco, winds through Frisco Square and downtown. The race is open to all ages.
Families can start their day at The Grove at Frisco Commons with Breakfast with Santa, though tickets have already sold out. The event features photos with St. Nick, crafts, a hot cocoa bar, and holiday favors.
Merry Main Street takes over Simpson Plaza from 3 to 8 p.m. that same evening. The traditional celebration includes the city tree lighting, student choir performances, and additional Santa photo opportunities.
Perhaps the most unique offering comes on December 13 at the Frisco Athletic Center. Scuba with Santa invites swimmers aged 8 and up to don “snuba” gear for underwater photos with the jolly visitor.
The Frisco Fire Department Dive Team assists participants in reaching Santa’s submerged photo booth. Younger children can snorkel with Santa’s helpers. To join in the fun, bring a new toy to donate to the holiday toy drive.
On December 18, the Frisco Heritage Center hosts Walnut’s Wassail Walk from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event features live music, local arts groups, holiday activities, and complimentary wassail served by the Heritage Association of Frisco.
Two longer-running exhibitions round out the holiday offerings at the Frisco Discovery Center. The Festival of Trees displays community-decorated trees in the Grand Gallery, while the Winter Art Show in the Community Gallery showcases seasonal works by local artists.
Both exhibitions opened on November 12 and run through January 10. The art show features two- and three-dimensional pieces depicting winter landscapes and holiday scenes. A public reception for the exhibit will be held on December 14, where visitors can greet the artists featured in the show, enjoy light refreshments, and explore the exhibit.
Holiday Lights at Frisco Square runs from now till January 3, each evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The free choreographed light show is synchronized to music available on 107.3, which is also piped through speakers around the Square.
Other events happening at Frisco Square throughout the holiday season include an outdoor ice skating rink, a light tunnel, horse-drawn carriage rides, and visits with Santa. Prices to participate vary by activity.
