A Fort Worth ISD watchdog group is alleging that the United Educators Association (UEA) is preparing to help hundreds of teachers leave the district if the Texas Education Agency appoints anyone other than acting Superintendent Karen Molinar to lead the troubled school system.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Fort Worth ISD is now under TEA oversight following years of chronic academic failure at a campus that repeatedly received failing ratings for five consecutive years. State law requires intervention and replacement of the local authority once those conditions are met.

According to a Facebook post by the FWISD Watchdog page, a source claimed the UEA is already coordinating with surrounding districts to assist educators who may depart once the TEA selects a new superintendent.

“A reliable source has messaged FWISD Watchdog stating that the United Educators Association is actively working with other districts to place teachers who will leave if anyone other than Karen Molinar is not the Super when the Texas Education Agency selects a new Superintendent for the Fort Worth ISD. Watchdog has also been told that the district could see 1,000 to 1,500 teachers leave, up to 2,500 leave if Choudhury is selected,” the page wrote.

Some community members say Molinar is the only leader capable of stabilizing the district during the state intervention.

“Dr. Karen Molinar is the right choice to lead us through this difficult chapter. I hope and pray we don’t have the mass exodus,” Zach Leonard wrote on Facebook.

The United Educators Association did not respond to a request for comment from The Dallas Express.

The TEA has not yet announced a specific timeline for appointing a new board of managers or selecting a long-term superintendent. Interim leadership is expected to remain in place into early 2026.
