Customs and Border Protection arrested three suspects on the Texas border who were wanted for sex assault.

CBP arrested 70-year-old Roberto Gallegos Hernandez on November 12 on the Laredo border for a child sex assault from 1987, according to a press release. The next day, agents arrested 21-year-old Alexis Gael Gonzalez Torres at the same checkpoint for child rape. November 16, CBP busted 51-year-old Francisco Javier Balderas Gonzalez in Eagle Pass for sexual battery.

“CBP recognizes the significance of bringing those charged with serious sex crimes to justice,” said Eagle Pass Port Director Pete Beattie in a press release.

CBP officers at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge in Laredo referred Hernandez, a resident alien and Mexican national, for secondary inspection on November 12. Then, biometric verification through law enforcement databases confirmed he had an outstanding felony warrant from 1987 for aggravated child sex assault from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Officers brought him to the Webb County Jail to face the warrant.

“It was a long time coming, nearly 40 years, but CBP officers at Laredo Port of Entry encountered and brought to justice a traveler wanted on longtime outstanding warrant for a sex related offense against a child,” said Laredo Port Director Alberto Flores in the release. “This apprehension, and the apprehension a day later of a man wanted for statutory child rape exemplify our continued commitment to protecting our communities.”

The next day, at the same checkpoint, CBP officers flagged Torres, an American citizen riding a bus, for secondary inspection. Then, similar biometric verification showed he was wanted on a felony warrant for statutory rape of a child from the Statesville Police Department in North Carolina. Like Hernandez, officers brought him to the Webb County Jail.

“Harm toward children is reprehensible and will not be tolerated,” Flores said.

November 16, CBP officers at the Camino Real Bridge in Eagle Pass referred Gonzalez, a Mexican national, for secondary inspection. Like the other two suspects, biometric verification flagged him as wanted on a felony warrant for sexual battery from the Custer County Sheriff’s Office in Arapaho, Oklahoma. Officers turned him over to the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office to face the charges.

“We give these types of cases our utmost attention, hoping to give the victim and their family comfort, knowing the alleged attacker is now in custody,” Beattie said.

Law enforcement announced numerous developments along the border last week – from the arrest of an illegal “special interest alien” from China captured in Starr County, to the sentencing and denaturalization of a sex offender in San Antonio, to a suspect pleading guilty to smuggling drugged children in El Paso, as The Dallas Express reported.

Earlier in November, the Texas Department of Public Safety upped the reward to $4,000 for the arrest of convicted child sex offender Ismael Arias, a Cuban national who has evaded arrest since April 2025.
