Dallas police arrested five suspects and recovered approximately $1 million in stolen merchandise after uncovering a major cargo theft operation at an auto repair shop.
The bust dismantled a theft ring responsible for at least ten cargo heists across North Texas dating back to 2022, according to a DPD report on Monday.
South Central CRT officers discovered the operation after spotting a stolen trailer being pulled into a repair shop in the 5200 block of University Hills Boulevard in South Dallas on November 1. The trailer had been reported stolen by the Benbrook Police Department.
Officers detained the semi-truck driver and two other suspects at the scene. The Salvage Squad’s investigation revealed the shop owner and manager were also allegedly involved in the criminal enterprise.
Those arrested include Johnny Veail, 39, charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle; Abdullah Majeed, 39; Mohammad Husainy, 37; Justin Kenney, 37; and Anthony Walker, 54, all of whom face first-degree felony charges for theft of property exceeding $300,000. Kenney also had an outstanding warrant from Benbrook for theft.
A search warrant execution at the repair shop uncovered a staggering haul of stolen goods. Officers recovered 795 tires, 600 aluminum rims, various vehicles, including a trailer, a motorcycle, an ATV, and a car engine, along with appliances and cases of motor oil.
Investigators also seized $32,553 in U.S. currency during the operation.
The successful bust resulted from coordination between South Central CRT, the Salvage Squad, and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division. The case is documented under number 157172-2025.
