The Dallas Stars defeated the Ottawa Senators for a third consecutive victory, as the team continues to climb the standings.

The Stars needed overtime to secure the victory against Ottawa, but a goal by Roope Hintz just 3:04 into the period helped the Stars claim the win.

This road victory marks the first time since the 2016 season that Dallas has claimed a victory in Ottawa, with forward Jason Robertson highlighting how meaningful it could be to break that streak.

“It meant a lot, I think,” Robertson said, per NHL.com. “I mean, I’ve only been here for six years, so it’s been six times, but everyone going in, we wanted this one really bad.”

Dallas has compiled a record of 10-4-3 and is currently in third place in the NHL’s Western Conference standings.

The Stars are also tied with the Anaheim Ducks in the standings, as both teams have collected 23 points to start the season. However, both teams trail the Colorado Avalanche by four points for the top spot in the conference.

Notably, these victories have helped the Stars jump ahead in the standings to third place in the Western Conference after sitting in sixth place last week following a difficult stretch of games, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.

These performances have come despite the Stars missing multiple key players due to injuries, as center Matt Duchene suffered an upper-body injury and will be out for multiple games. Left-wing Jamie Benn has missed the entire season due to a collapsed lung.

The Stars have been led this season by forwards Miko Rantanen and Wyatt Johnston, with Rantanen contributing 23 total points and Johnston contributing 20 total points through the first 17 games of the year.

Luckily, the Stars will now have the chance to take a day off and regroup before their next matchup, with the team scheduled to take on the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Following this matchup, Dallas will travel back home to American Airlines Center to prepare for two straight home matchups against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday and the New York Islanders next week.
