Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare officially filed for re-election, announcing his candidacy for the 2026 Republican Primary.

“On Saturday, I officially filed to run for re-election and place my name on the 2026 Republican Primary ballot. Serving taxpayers as Tarrant County judge has been an honor, and I can’t wait to keep fighting for conservative values every day. As promised on the campaign trail four years ago, I’ve led the charge to lower property taxes, reduce wasteful spending, and get rid of progressive ideology within county government,” O’Hare posted on Facebook.

O’Hare won election in 2022 and began serving on January 1, 2023, leading several conservative policy initiatives in Tarrant County.

His record includes lowering property taxes below the no-new-revenue rate and eliminating programs he described as wasteful, including the COVID-19 disaster declaration and mandatory DEI training for county employees.

He “passed the county’s first-ever maximum Homestead Exemption, protecting homeowners and promoting long-term affordability,” O’Hare’s campaign website states.

As previously reported by The Dallas Express, O’Hare and the Commissioners Court reduced the county’s 2025 budget by more than $50 million. The move followed an $8.1 million cut to the 2024 budget.

Election integrity remains one of O’Hare’s key priorities. He has supported reforms including numbered paper ballots and stricter ballot chain-of-custody procedures.

O’Hare lists fiscal responsibility and transparency as central priorities for his administration.

“We’ve made significant strides, but we’re just getting started. We will continue to prioritize efficient government, transparent spending, and, most importantly, the taxpayers. I take spending taxpayer dollars seriously—as every elected official and government employee should. Government can function efficiently. It just takes work. We’re doing the work in Tarrant County,” O’Hare told The Dallas Express.
