Apogee Architectural Metals plans to lay off dozens of workers at its Mesquite facility in early 2026.

The Minnesota-based architectural products company notified the Texas Workforce Commission that 58 positions are expected to be eliminated at its Mesquite location, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification dated November 5. The layoff is scheduled to take effect January 3, 2026, according to the filing.

Apogee Architectural Metals is part of Apogee Enterprises. This publicly traded conglomerate manufactures glass, aluminum storefront systems, and performance coatings used in commercial buildings, museums, transportation systems, and specialty industrial applications.

The company website says the firm is a leader in designing and installing large-scale building façades, including systems that aim to reduce energy consumption and protect structures from hurricanes and blasts.

The Mesquite layoffs occur as the company undergoes a leadership change.

On October 31, Apogee announced that Board Chair Donald A. Nolan had been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Ty R. Silberhorn. The company press release said that it will begin evaluating both internal and external candidates for the permanent CEO role. Silberhorn stated in the announcement, “It has been an honor and privilege to lead Apogee for nearly five years.”

Nolan, who previously led Kennametal Inc. and held senior leadership roles with Avery Dennison Corporation, said he intends to continue pursuing what he described as a “growth-oriented culture” at the company. “We will remain focused on delivering exceptional performance for our customers and employees,” he said in the announcement.

Despite the leadership transition, Apogee reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 financial outlook, with net sales projected to be between $1.39 billion and $1.42 billion, and adjusted diluted earnings per share between $3.60 and $3.90, according to the release.

The company also recently declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.26 per share, scheduled to be paid on November 13 to shareholders of record as of October 29. Apogee’s headquarters are in Minneapolis.
