Americans will pay about 3% less for their Thanksgiving dinners this year as grocery prices drop across traditional holiday items, according to a report from the White House.

The price relief comes as major retailers slash meal costs to their lowest levels in years, offering some financial respite during the holiday season.

Dinner rolls have decreased in price by 22%, while frozen vegetables have dropped by 15%. Traditional staples, including turkey, stuffing, gravy mix, fresh cranberries, and pumpkin pies, all cost less than last year.

Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal is now 25% less expensive than in 2024, featuring its lowest turkey prices since 2019. The retailer’s full holiday spread feeds ten people for under $4 per person.

Other major chains have followed suit with aggressive price cuts. Lidl reduced the cost of its Thanksgiving meal by $10, bringing the per-person price to $3.60 for a ten-person feast.

Aldi trimmed $7 off last year’s prices, matching its 2019 rates at $4 per person. Target hit its lowest-ever Thanksgiving meal price at less than $5 per person for a four-person dinner.

Regional powerhouse Schnucks announced that its frozen turkeys would be sold at the lowest prices in more than 15 years. The privately held supermarket chain operates across the Midwest.

The White House attributed the price decreases to President Donald J. Trump’s economic policies. “President Donald J. Trump promised to crush inflation and lower prices — and he’s delivering this Thanksgiving,” the administration stated.
