Early Saturday morning in Dallas, authorities were called about a crash on Interstate 35. About an hour after the highway was reopened, a second crash occurred.

Police responded to the scene of the initial crash along southbound I-35, near Empire Central Drive, on Saturday, January 8, just after 2 a.m. A man was left in critical condition following the accident.

Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff‘s Office investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

However, another crash occurred nearby after crews reopened the interstate an hour later, according to a FOX 4 News report.

In the second incident, the driver had crashed his black Lexus into the back of an 18-wheeler. Dallas firefighters cut open the roof of the car and got the man out after the Lexus was pinned under the back of the truck. Authorities did not reveal the identity of the Lexus driver.

The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Parkland Hospital for treatment. FOX 4 News reported that the truck driver did not sustain any injury.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office has not revealed any further details about the accident.
