A Fort Worth student was taken into custody Thursday after allegedly making a bomb threat that forced R.L. Paschal High School into lockdown.

Police said no suspicious devices or items were found after the threat was reported.

In an internal message to parents and students, Principal Rodney White wrote:

“Law enforcement is investigating a possible bomb threat affecting our campus. At the direction of the Fort Worth ISD Police Department, Paschal High School is in SECURE status. All students and staff are safe inside the building.

The district postponed a scheduled football game, announcing on Facebook that the Paschal and Trimble Tech freshman and JV matchups set for Thursday night had been moved to Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. and noon.

“The Fort Worth Police Department takes all threats to life seriously and has located the source of the threat,” police said in a statement to CBS News. “The juvenile student that called this in is in police custody and will be charged with Terroristic Threat.”

Some parents criticized the district’s communication during the lockdown.

“And they don’t want the students with cellphones — that is not right,” parent Gricelda Molina wrote on Facebook. “In situations like this, we need to know if they’re okay. An email from the district isn’t enough. My son was in there until 7 p.m.”

School operations returned to normal the following day, and police said the investigation remains ongoing.
