A century after it mysteriously closed, the legendary, fictional BooMont Hotel is reopening as an immersive, interactive experience at Galleria Dallas.
Originally built in 1901 by oil tycoon and inventor Rupert B. BooMont, the grand hotel was once a marvel of luxury and innovation. It became the first hotel in Texas to feature full electricity, powered by BooMont’s patented designs. Guests marveled at imported teak, Venetian glass, and elevators that BooMont engineered himself.
The hotel quickly gained fame after its opening on September 5, 1901. Hollywood stars and U.S. senators stayed in its opulent rooms, cementing its reputation as one of the world’s finest luxury destinations.
Tragedy struck in 1924 when a violent lightning storm, described by witnesses as “blue fire,” hit the hotel. Many guests, including BooMont himself, vanished without a trace. Although it remained open briefly, guests soon reported strange occurrences — clocks that ran backward, endless hallways, and dreamlike sensations of time standing still. The hotel shut down quietly in 1925.
Now, after more than 100 years, the BooMont Hotel returns in a new form. BAYMO, the creative team behind SNOWDAY and Santaland, has transformed the legend into “BOO!,” a fully immersive indoor adventure.
BAYMO describes BOO! as “a spooky experience unlike any other.”
Visitors will explore mysterious rooms and interactive spaces, each filled with surprises and photo opportunities. The hour-long journey includes three professional photo moments using integrated cameras and lighting.
Guests will enter through a refurbished 1901-style lobby before taking elevators through themed floors filled with eerie encounters. The attraction welcomes older children and adults eager for a strange and thrilling experience.
Located on Level 3 of Galleria Dallas near the Play Place, BOO! operates daily from October 1 through November 2. Tickets start at $15 for children under 12 and $25 for adults and teens. Adults-only nights in October will feature special appearances from haunting characters.
