A new restaurant concept pairing chicken with the game of pickleball has opened in Grand Prairie. The combination might seem strange, but according to Chicken N Pickle general manager Chris Bohn, patrons love both, so why not merge them together?

“Pickleball is the fastest growing sport right now in America,” Bohn said.

Customers can come and enjoy some great chicken before burning it off on eleven different pickleball courts. Five of the facility’s courts will be outdoors, with six courts inside. The franchise also offers lawn games and shuffleboard.

The location features a rooftop area for lounging, plenty of dining room space with a bar, and a lawn for relaxing. Pickleball professionals will also be available for customers who want to learn to play the popular sport.

For those unfamiliar with pickleball, the game is much like a mix of ping pong, tennis, and badminton. The game typically involves two teams of two facing one another on the court. Each team serves diagonally, with the goal of reaching 11 points first.

Chicken N Pickle also welcomes those who don’t want to play. Patrons can come and enjoy a cold beer and some of the best chicken around. The menu also features burgers, ribs, pulled pork and waffles, power bowls, hot sandwiches, salads, and more. For dessert, Chicken N Pickle offers an array of skillet desserts, including the Cowboy Cookie, Churro Waffle, and Coconut Cream Pie Cup.

Chicken N Pickle donates a portion of its profit to local charities and will hold various fund-raising events for charity throughout the year.  “Our hearts are local,” Bohn said of the company’s focus on charities. “That’s what we like to say around here.”

The franchise also has locations in San Antonio, Texas, and in Kansas and Oklahoma.
